01 Jan 2021 — A New Year’s Observation

It’s the first day of 2021, but don’t unbuckle your seat belt just yet. We still have a long, hard slog ahead of us this year. There is no one with a cosmic switch that was thrown at midnight that miraculously makes 2021 instantaneously different than 2020. It may not be until the summer that the “new year” takes hold and we can embrace our friends and loved ones again. And get the kids off the computer, out of the house, and safely back to school. Today is a day of hope and promise. And until then we must hold tight to the hope that this day brings.

In the Bible, Paul (and, no, he was not an apostle, no matter what he thinks) wishes for the Philippians, “…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding…”. That is my wish for all my friends and family, that your god –internal, external, he, she, they– grant peace that does not require understanding.

And for those who over the past year have disagreed with my thinking, I wish for you peace and enlightenment in the coming year. So you can realize how wrong you have been.
